Summer Palomazo Series

Summer Palomazo Series

During the Summer of 2022 we started a jam session called 'Palomazo' at our shop in Downtown Oxnard. Five different bands of distinct genres joined us in an experience that was unique to all who attended. An event where we got to know the bands, their history and their stories.

On June 16th we had our first band perform, Grupo Sensacion, which started as Oro Blanco back in the 90's. They performed covers of cumbias, rock en español, and pop.

Mariachi Quinto Sol (MQS) from Los Angeles, joined us on June 30th. Their music style consisting of traditional Mariachi to contemporary sounds by various genres like country, classic pop, modern pop, and original music written and performed by MQS.

The plan was to have a 'Palomazo' every other Thursday, but because of events out of our control, we had to skip the month of July. In August, we continued the third 'Palomazo'.

Furia del Norte, a Norteño band with a long history in the industry, joined us as they spoke about the challenges, the business, and the story of how they got the name.

On August 25th we had a special performance by Araceli Collazo and Mark Towns, a perfect duo gifting us with their poetry, guitar solos, and a voice like no other.

We met the fifth and final band at an event we attended in Downtown Oxnard. Alex Arriaga y Los Xiqueños was the youngest band performing. Playing music of Chicano Folk, Oldies, Classic Rock, 90's, and original songs they wrote and performed.

Within the last 'Palomazo' we had a true Palomazo (musicians performing with other musicians) where Antonio Alatorre from Grupo Sencacion and Araceli Collazo, performed with Los Xiqueños.

We had such an amazing experience hosting 'Palomazo' we hope to continue this event for 2023.
