P-P-D-Pow, yup, that's how you say it. Historically, the word has had many meanings. But for us, Pipiripau is someone who strives to be their best self, regardless of their circumstances. It’s about being rooted in Cultura, history, traditions, music, food, and people that shape us.
It’s carried with Orgullo, the pride of generations who worked hard, stayed humble, and left behind a legacy richer than any material wealth. And it’s lived with Corazón, the courage, passion, and heart to keep moving forward, while staying true to who we are.
Desde Abajo (Origins)
It didn’t start with a business plan. It started with a song and a phrase that stuck.
Founded in 2011 by brothers Rolando and Heriberto Rubalcava, Pipiripau began as a passion project. For years, the "office" was the road. We built the brand from the ground up, loading cars at dawn to hit pop-ups, art walks, and parking lots all the way from California to Arizona.
Those years on the road were our classroom. We learned that there are no shortcuts. It takes patience, consistency, and a whole lot of ganas to build something from nothing.
In 2021, that hustle paid off with our first brick-and-mortar shop in Downtown Oxnard. It’s more than a store; it’s a hub for conversation and a home for the community that built us.
Sons of Immigrants
We are the sons of Mexican immigrants, raised on the hills of Jalisco and the coast of California. Heriberto with his sketchbook, Rolando with his camera. We grew up on the border of two worlds: Mariachis and Hip Hop, tacos and burgers, Lucha Libre and wrestling. A remix of heritage and hustle. But the longer we lived here, the more we realized our hearts were anchored there.
We didn’t just want to remember Mexico; we wanted to honor its struggle, its traditions, and its beauty. Pipiripau is our bridge between these two worlds. It is our duty to ensure the next generation knows their history and never forgets where they come from.

Our mark is "El Gallito" (The Rooster). To us, the rooster represents el despertar, the mindset to get up, show up, and handle business, day in and day out.
A gallo carries a natural confidence. He protects, provides, and claims his ground. When you wear El Gallito, you’re channeling that energy. You know your purpose, you stay consistent, and you carry your colors with pride.

Our art takes many forms, from a design on a tee, to a video on social media, to a live festival built from the ground up.
Since launching our live events in 2022, we've grown from an intimate music series into a broader celebration of culture, including our signature Día de los Muertos festival.
Whether through the apparel we design or the experiences we create, our mission remains the same: to celebrate culture, inspire creativity, raise the standard, and create meaningful connections.

Panteón
Panteón is our annual Día de los Muertos celebration, an offering to the city where we planted roots and built community. Through live performances, Catrín & Catrina contest, theatrical play, community altars, art installations, and much more, we create a space for remembrance where the gap between past and present is bridged.
What started as a small gathering has grown into a celebration where we remember, honor, and celebrate those who came before us. In 2026, we celebrate the fourth annual Panteón Fest, continuing to build on a tradition rooted in authenticity, culture, and remembrance.

Palomazo
Music has always been the heartbeat of Pipiripau. Palomazo, a Mexican term for an impromptu jam session, grew from that love of music and the spontaneity of musicians coming together.
It began inside our shop, with family, friends, and local musicians gathering for intimate sessions. As more people joined, those small gatherings grew beyond our four walls and eventually became a full music festival.
Today, Palomazo brings together a wide range of sounds, from rock en español, cumbia, and norteño to psychedelic rock, boleros, and mariachi. The result is a gathering that feels distinctly its own, where different genres, musicians, and audiences come together under one roof.

Palabras is our open mic series dedicated to the art of the spoken word, from poetry and storytelling to music and other forms of expression. It gives emerging and seasoned artists a place to step up, share their work, and connect with an audience.
